The Sunday Film Club attended a special (70mm) film screening of the award-winning Horror drama ‘SINNERS’ directed, written & produced by Ryan Coogler (centre) and starring Michael B. Jordan (right) and young newcomer Miles Caton (left) in his debut movie role for a special Q&A panel, representing a stellar ensemble cast that includes: Delroy Lindo, Wumni Mosaki, Hailey Seinfeld, Jack O’ Connell, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Omar Benson Miller. It was a special screening which took place at Picturehouse Central Cinema in London, England in November of last year where Michael, Ryan and Miles were interviewed after the film screening as part of the Q&A in front of a live audience.
The trio talked about the impact of the film on themselves, the industry, pop culture, the music, and various behind the scenes aspects of the production the audiences did not know about. We were treated to a (70mm) version of Sinners which was a wonderful experience, as I had the privilege of watching Sinners in IMAX in a media screening before it premiered worldwide last year before the summer. Though the panel started in lighthearted humour with just Miles and Ryan as Michael. B Jordan was stuck in the terrible London traffic, but made it to the panel around 10 later. Since Sinners was released worldwide and captured the hearts of millions and millions of fans everywhere. The movie has won multiple awards such as Grammys, Baftas, Golden Globes and was recently nominated for a record-breaking 16 Oscars the most of any movie in history for the Academy Awards. This included first time nominations for Michael B. Jordan as Best Actor, Delroy Lindo and Wumni Mosaku for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively for their performances, Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Ryan Coogler himself for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

‘ The first time I read the script it was really, really fast, I think I read it in like 45 mins, which is rare when you pick it up and not put it down until you are finished, I laughed, cried and was Inspired. Imagining the incredible surreal sequence, with the music, imagining how that could be like, the I read it again. ‘
‘Also a nod to our history and and my family. ‘
Ryan Coogler
‘ It’s the greatest performance I’ve ever seen from him. There’s two performances there, in some ways three, because he’s performance as Stack, as a vampire is totally different from Stack as a person. The interesting thing about Mike and working with is that’s so interesting, is that he makes things extremely difficult look easy. ‘
‘ This film was incredibly challenging and I knew he could do it, I’d written it for him and had him in mind. But the level he brought to it was extraordinary, but specifically the Smoke performance.’
Miles Caton
‘ Crazy, Crazy, this is my first film, my acting debut! and just to be part of this film has been life changing. ‘
